| I Am A Brick!!! The Lord has a way of speaking to us and teaching to us in various ways. Recently, while struggling with some issues which I know keep me from arms length from God. A friend, mentor, and brother in Christ challenged me to read Ephesians and study on it for 30 days. In this journey I need to seek God and find out who I really am. Who I am on this earth and who I am in Christ Jesus. I decided to take this challenge and on June 12, 2008 at about 10:00 PM I decided to begin reading the letter Paul wrote to the faithful Christian’s in Ephesus . As I read every word I begin to become hungry for more. I continued to read and absorb the word allowing it to sink deeply into my soul. I completed the letter and meditated on the awesome words of truth. In the process God revealed to me the basis of what my study is going to be about. I immediately rushed into my home office and felt the urgency to write the following: I am a brick!!! In the second chapter of Ephesians in the Message Bible it states the following: God is building a home. He’s using us all- irrespective of how we got here- in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day- a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home. This is what the Lord revealed to me. When I got out of the military back in 1996 I worked at North Georgia Brick Company in Cumming , Georgia for the duration of three years. During that time I learned an enormous amount about the building material and the Lord showed me the similarity. Here it is: As a brick I am formed out of clay. I begin soft, vulnerable, and full of impurities. As I am formed by the word of the Lord and get the fresh fire of the Holy Spirit I am hardened into a Christian which can now begin to penetrate the evilness of the environment. At my core are three holes which stand for the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Through these holes all other things in my environment are filtered through. I stand between God and the outside world as a veneer which people judge the home. Although beautiful on the outside with my Christian smile showing, the true foundation of my strength lies behind my face. A pressure washer of hardships and challenges in my life can erode away the happy face revealing the true make-up of my character which lies just beneath the surface. As bricks on the house of God, only a selected few are secured directly to the wall of the Lord. Pastors, evangelist, those who God has chosen to lead the flocks, and those who stay deep into Gods word are secured directly to wall with the rest being held together with the mortar of fellowship. Fellowship mortar made up of the sands of testimonies and experiences and the cement of the Holy Bible which Bonds us all together. As a brick I can help to strengthen the foundation by continuing the work of our apostles and prophets and help to reveal the beauty of the father while being covered with Quoin’s of Jesus Christ. Again, I hope that all of you can understand this and it meets you where you are. When I am sensitive to the Holy Spirit and all Gods glory and he reveals something to me it is like finding money in your pocket. It is just too good not to share. The best thing of all is that this is just the beginning. The Lord has so many great tid-bits and morsels of goodness baked right into his message that it is almost a shame for others not to have a little taste. In conclusion, I love you all and pray that you all continue to seek God. We are not to judge one another as we are all red, lumpy clay until we are formed and solidified in the word of the Lord. When we all come together we can form the temple which God is at home in!!!!!!!! Your brother in Christ, Allen |
