Slow Me Down Lord
Show me the way,
open my eyes
so I can see the beauty
in all of your creation.
Slow me down,
so I may feel each drop
of precious rain that nourish
each flower and every blade of grass,
drinking the sun's rays.
Silence my haste,
so that I may take time to
feel the fragrant breeze
in night's somber moments.
Silence my thoughts,
so I can pray and give thanks
for all the gifts you've
showered upon me
Slow me down Lord,
that I may hear the cries
of those in need of empathy and love;
so I too, can feel their loneliness
and help soothe their wounded hearts.
Open my eyes Lord,
blind to your light
I am swallowed by darkness,
I rush, stumble and fall,
I cannot find my way...
I need to slow down Lord,
so I can see your face
in everyone I meet.
Only then, will I know
why I'm here and for what purpose.
Slow me down
that I may hear your voice
in those crying out for help,
so I may be of service to those in need
and give of my time, unconditionally.
But most of all Lord,
slow me down
so I may know why I came
and where I'm going;
so that my time on earth
will not be in vain.
